The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Gulf Research Program (GRP) is currently accepting applications for three fellowship opportunities. Please help us share this opportunity within your network.
The Gulf Research Program’s Science Policy Fellows (SPF) gain first-hand experience at the interface of science and policy as they spend one year alongside decision-makers at agencies across Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Applications are due by February 7th, 2024. Audience: Graduate Students (Master’s and PhD).
The Gulf Research Program’s Early-Career Research Fellowship (ECRF) supports emerging scientific leaders as they take risks on research ideas not yet tested, pursue unique collaborations, and build a network of colleagues who share their interest in improving the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems. We currently have two tracks accepting application for this fellowship (see below). For both tracks, applications are due by March 6, 2024. Audience: Early-Career Researchers/Faculty who completed their PhD in the last 10 years working on research topics relevant to the track goals listed below.
- ECRF Human Health and Community Resilience Track goal focuses on contributing to the understanding of the role that resilience-based interventions play in addressing the root causes of climate, disaster, and/or health vulnerability that are associated with health disparities in communities throughout the Gulf of Mexico region.
- ECRF Offshore Energy Safety track goal focuses on contributing to the understanding, management, and reduction of systemic risk in offshore energy activities. Note: Experience in research pertaining to the identification and reduction of systemic risk in other industries is also desired.
